SINGAPORE: There’s nothing like a friendly wager to get the competitive juices flowing.

And so it is between shooters Alia Sazana Azahari of Malaysia and Tanyaporn Prucksakorn of Thailand.

Though friends off the firing line, they are fierce competitors at the shooting range.

Since they’ll be competing in the women’s 25m pistol event at the National Shooting Centre on Thursday, the duo have decided to make things a little more interesting.

On the line is a burger – with the loser buying the winner a burger of her choice.

“I think we got the idea somewhere between the World Cup in South Korea in April and Germany earlier this month,” said Alia, 23.

“We love burgers. After she won the silver medal in Munich, we celebrated with a burger. That’s the first thing that came to our mind.

The two have been firm friends since 2013, sharing the same easy going aspect in life and a love for food.“Wherever or whenever we travel, we always find a local burger place. Sort of like tradition,” she laughs.
