Women's doubles in line for Malaysia's first medal

SINGAPORE, June 1 (Bernama) - Women's doubles, Ho Ying and Lee Rou You are in line for Malaysia's first medal at Singapore SEA Games after making the semi-final Tuesday.

The pair beat Indonesia's Gustin Dwijayanti/Kharisma Nur Hawa, 11-6,11-8, 11-6 in the quarter-final at the Singapore Indoor Stadium today.

Ho Ying/Lee Rou You will face World Championship bronze medal winners Feng Tianwei/Yu Mengyu of Singapore in the semi-final.

"We have a difficult task tomorrow but will try our best to win," said Ho Ying.

The other semi-final pits Lin Ye/Zhou Yihan of Singapore against Komwong Nanthana/Sawettabut Sutha of Thailand.

Losers in the semi-finals will share the bronze medal.

Malaysia's hopes of success in the men's doubles were dashed after the two pairs lost to their opponents.

Muhd ??Shakirin Ibrahim/Muhammad Ashraf Haiqal Muhammad Rizal lost 12-10, 8-11, 11-6, 11-4 to Tran Tuan Quynh/Nguyen Ah Tu of Vietnam.

The other pair, Wong Chun Cheun/ Leong Chee Feng lost 5-11, 11-8, 6-11, 7-11 to Richard Gonzales/Rdel Irineo Valle of the Philippines.
