Malaysia thrash Philippines 112-11 in Netball

SINGAPORE, June 1 (Bernama) -- Malaysia continued their dominance in netball by thrashing the Philippines 112-11 in a second round match of the 2015 Singapore SEA Games here, Monday.

The squad, coached by Aminah Saari, led 32-1 and added 29 points in the second quarter against two points for the Philippines at OCBC Arena, Singapore Sports Hub.

After the break, Malaysia added 27 points in the third quarter, followed by 24 points in the final quarter.

The Philippines won only two points and six points in the third quarter and the fourth quarter.

Aminah said the team performed consistently in the two matches so far. Malaysia got to a flying start by beating Myanmar 84-22 in the opening match Sunday. "We were fortunate to meet with two inexperienced teams. The crunch match is against arch rivals Singapore tomorrow," she told reporters in Singapore.

The last time Malaysia won the netball gold medal was at 2001 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games, the national team's last appearance in the SEA Games.
