SINGAPORE, June 15 (Bernama) -- Defending champion, Thailand secured the gold medal in the football competition, also known as 'mother of all medals' after scoring an emphatic 3-0 win over Myanmar in the final match at Singapore National Stadium, Sport Hub, Monday night.
The victory saw the young 'War Elephants' side recording their name in the SEA Games record books as the most successful team with fifteen gold medals in football competition since the sports was introduced back in 1959 SEAP Games held in the country.
All Thailand's goals in tonight's match was scored by Tanaboon Kesarat in the 54th minute, Chananan Pombubpha (64th minute) and substitute, Pinyo Inpinit in the 78th minute.
Vietnam had earlier took the bronze medal after defeating Indonesia 5-0 in the match held at the same venue.
Midfielder, Vo Huy Toan bagged a brace in the 21st and 41st minute while three other goals came from Mac Hong Quan in the 14th minute, Nguyen Huu Dung in the injury time of first half and Que Ngoc Hai in the 71st minute.
