Paddlers Contribute First Bronze Medal In Singapore SEA Games

SINGAPORE, June 2 (Bernama) -- Malaysian pair Ho Ying/Lee Rou You had to be contended with just a bronze medal in the Singapore SEA Games after losing to Singapore's top pair in the women's table tennis doubles semifinals.

However, the duo became the country's first medal contributors of the 28th SEA Games.

Singapore, powered by Feng Tianwei/Yu Mengyu, beat Ho Ying-Rou You 11-9, 11-7, 11-8, 11-4 to book their berth in the final.

Feng Tianwei-Yu Mengyu will face another Singaporean pair Lin Ye/Zhou Yihan who beat Komwong Narthana/Sawettabut Sutha from Thailand 7-11, 9-11, 11-3, 11-5, 10-12, 11-6, 11-8, in another thrilling semifinal encounter.

"We are certainly not happy to have lost in straight sets. We made too many errors while the Singapore pair controlled the pace well. Their standard is very high compared to us.

"We had prepared for about three weeks in China before the SEA Games. After this I will play in the individual and mixed doubles competitions," said Rou You who has been playing table tennis for the past 12 years.
