Sea Games: Malaysia secures 1st gold medal in Karate

NAYPYIDAW: Lim Chee Wei won the men's individual Kata gold medal for Malaysia for the first time since 2007 to open the karate squad's Sea Games campaign today on a high.

Chee Wei, 22, defeated the host nation's Min Hein Khant after being awarded a unanimous 5-0 victory by the judges in the final.

Malaysia last won the event through Ku Jin Keat before Tan Chee Seng and Ricky Leong were beaten in the 2009 and 2011 finals respectively.
