PETALING JAYA: The national Under-23 got the
perfect boost ahead the Myanmar SEA Games after beating FC Ryukyu 3-1 in
their final friendly match at the MBPJ Stadium on Wednesday night.
Goals from strikers A. Thamil Arasu (47th) and Mohd Rozaimi Abdul Rahman’s brace (51st and 92nd minute) completed a comeback for the Malaysians after Shunta Takahashi opened the scoring in the 14th minute.
The win however came at a price after winger Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria and Tamil picked up injuries and were substituted.
The team will leave to Naypyitaw for the SEA Games on Sunday to defend their football gold medal.
Defending champions Malaysia have been drawn in Group A with Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei and Laos while in Group B are Indonesia, Thailand, Timor Leste, Cambodia and hosts Myanmar.
