Best Wedding Gift For Mohd Al-Jufferi

NAYPYITAW, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- Winning the gold medal in the Pencak Silat men's Class E (65-70kg) category at the ongoing Myanmar SEA Games is probably about the best wedding gift for national silat exponent Mohd Al-Jufferi Jamari who will be tying the knot with Noorhafiezah Matasuki in the middle of next year.

Mohd Al-Jufferi, 21, from Kuantan, TKOed (Technical Knock Out) Dang Toan Thang of Vietnam in a minute and 25 seconds in the final at the Zayer Thiri Indoor Satdium here.

Bronze medals were awarded to Myanmar's Kyaw Swar Win and Somkid Rakjun of Thailand.

"I thank Allah for this victory and also my friends who have been a great source of encouragement," said Mohd Al-Jufferi, who is also the defending champion in the event.

His fiance is a silat exponent in Selangor.

However, Ahmad Shahril Zailudin, a senior in the national pencak silat contingent, had to be satisfied with the silver when he lost 0-5 on points count to Myanmars Kyaw Naing Tun in the men's Class D final (60-65kg).

Indonesia's Sapto Purnomo and Sakdo Omkaeo of Thailand were awarded the bronze.

This is Malaysia's second gold in pencak silat. The first was contirbuted by Nur Syazreen A Malik and Nor Hamizah Abu Hassan in the women's pairs.

Present to witness today's bout was Myanmar Vice President, Dr Sai Mauk Kham.
