SEA GAMES: Malaysian Divers Claims Another Gold Medal

PALEMBANG, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- The national divers continue their domination at the Jakabaring Aquatic Centre after claiming their third gold medal, Monday.

In the women's 10m platform syncronised, Leong Mun Yee and Traisy Vivien Tukiet put on a superb performance to accumulate 306.66 points after five dives.

The Indonesian pair, Sari Ambarwati and Dinasari Harimurti, claimed the silver medal with 268.62 points, while the bronze was won by Myanmar's pair of Sandar Nyut Soe and Mar Hnin Hay with 155.73 points.

"Despite the absence of a tough challenge for us here, we gave our 100 per cent performance. We did not look down on the other competitors and were still polishing our skills," said season campaigner, Leong Mun Yee.

The gold medal is Mun Yee's second after winning the 3m springboard syncronised yesterday, partnering Ng Yan Yee.

As for Traisy Vivien, the gold medal was an achievement for her, especially it was her second appearance.

"At the last SEA Games in Laos, I won only a bronze medal in the 10m platform individual event. I would like to dedicate my gold medal to my parents who have been supportive all this while.

"My parents wouldn't let me quit from the event and wanted me to succeed like Bryan (Nickson Lomas)," said Traisy.

She will concentrate for the individual event scheduled for Wednesday.
