SEA GAMES: Divers Bryan, Yeoh Bag 10th Gold For Malaysia


PALEMBANG, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Divers Bryan Nickson Lomas and Yeoh Ken Nee formed a potent men's 3m springboard synchronised pairing to deliver Malaysia's tenth gold medal at the at the 26th SEA Games here Monday.

It was the second gold in diving for Malaysia after women divers Leong Mun Yee and Ng Yan Yee clinched the gold also in 3m springboard synchronised diving at the Jakabaring Aquatic Centre.

Bryan and Yeoh dived from a higher springboard to collect 392.31 points to set aside formidable challenges posed by Filipino and Indonesian divers.

The Philippines' Nino Crog and Jaime Asok collected 342.99 points to take the silver while Indonesia's Andriyan Andriyan (rpt Andriyan Andriyan) and Ahmad S. Jamjami bagged the bronze with 332.40 points.

"Although the competition was not as fierce as other international competitions, we are happy that we did a good job and satisfied with our performance," Bryan told reporters after receiving the gold medal.

For Yeoh, the SEA Games was more of a preparation for the 2012 World Cup Championship in London in February next year.

Bryan and Yeoh have qualified to represent Malaysia in the London Olympic Games 2012.
