JAKARTA, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- National Under-23 coach Ong Kim Swee hopes his players would keep their feet firmly on the ground after the 2-1 win over Thailand since there are bigger tasks ahead.
Kim Swee, who was clearly relieved and delighted with the win said he hoped the players would not take the match against Cambodia on Nov 13, lightly.
"I do not want my players to be over confident because anything can happen during the 90 minutes of play although Indonesia had beaten Cambodia 6-0.
"They (Cambodia) will certainly be hoping to recover from that setback and will be determined to prevent another similar defeat," he said after the Group A match against Thailand here.
He admitted that the match against Thailand was a tough one since coach Prapol Pongpanich has been able to prepare a good team.
"I am happy that the players showed plenty of character to overcome the demoralizing draw against Singapore in the opening match on Monday.
After Cambodia, Malaysia will face host Indonesia on Nov 17, a match deemed the most important for Kim Swee in his quest to defend the gold medal won in Laos two years ago.
Meanwhile, Pongpanich admitted that Malaysia were the better team.
"I admit Malaysia played well. We had tried our best but unfortunately our preparation was not good for tonight's match," he said.
