THE national men's golfers' hope of changing the colour of their medal from a bronze in Korat to gold in Laos begins today at the KM17 Golf Centre in Vientiane.
Gavin Kyle, Mohd Iszaimi Ismail, Nicholas Fung and Mohd Ilya Jamil are in confident mood after having been doing well in recent local and international tournaments.
"Based on their respective form, they should have a chance for the team gold medal. I am confident that the colour of medal will change," said team manager Yaacob Kassim yesterday.
In the individual event, Mohd Iszaimi is the main drawcard followed by Gavin, Nicholas and Mohd Ilya.
In the women's category, the golfers will find it tough against their more experienced opponents.
"We have set a silver medal in the team event for our women. Singapore and Thailand are better and more experienced than us," he added.
Ainil Johani Abu Bakar, Kelly Tan, Michelle Koh are the women's golfers in Vientiane.
