Three Female Golfers Selected For Laos Challenge

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Ladies Golf Association (Malga) has handed the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) a list of its three players to be chosen for the national team for the SEA Games in Laos in December.

Malga executive director Rabeahtul Aloya Abbas said the selection was based on talent and fitness.

"We only chose three of the best golfers because Malga is targeting, at least a silver medal, this time around," she told Bernama here Tuesday.

She said the names of the three golfers would be announced by early next month, upon approval by the OCM.

"They have undergone sufficient training and I am confident they are ready to face the challenges in Laos," added Rabeahtul Aloya.

She said, if the national women's golf team succeeded in reaching its target, it would not only be an achievement for Malga but for women golfers nationwide.

During the SEA Games in Korat, Thailand last year, the national women's golf team failed to bag any medal.
