Winning Three Gold Medals A Meaningful Birthday Gift For Fatin

SINGAPORE, June 15 (Bernama) -- Archer Fatin Nur Fatehah Mat Salleh gave herself a perfect and meaningful birthday gift for her 24th birthday at the 28th SEA Games here by winning three gold medals in the Compound events.

Fatin who had celebrated her 24th birthday on June 4, a day before the 28th SEA Games officially started, was in superb form to win gold medals in the women's individual compound event, women's team and mixed team events at the Kallang Cricket Centre.

"Before the start of the games, I had only targetted to win one gold medal in the team event. I dedicate this win to my parents, coach Mon Reddy Sut Txi and team mates for their support," said Fatin.

The former Universiti Teknologi Mara Pahang student who made her debut at the 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia, competed in her second SEA Games in 2013 when Myanmar was the host.

Archery team manager Ibrahim Harun was certainly proud of his charges since the archery squad had surpassed the three-gold medal target after winning five gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

"All credit must go to the archers who had worked very hard for the success since Malaysia had also emerged as the overall champion in archery. We must also thank the National Sports Council for their support," said Ibrahim who is also the TLDM Archery Association's honorary secretary.
