Thor, the only Malaysian left in SEA Games snooker singles

SINGAPORE: Now, let’s see if he’s Mighty Thor or not.

Thor Chuan Leong was left to battle it alone for the SEA Games snooker’s singles crown after team-mate Moh Keen Hoo was sent packing in the round of 16.

Chuan Leong, runner-up at the 2009 Laos Games, made short work Laos’ Doaphachan, winning 4-0 (52-37, 55-21, 105-9 and 48-40) to set up a clash with promising Thai youngster Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon.

Keen Hoo, the 2007 Korat Games champion, fell to homester Chan Keng Kwang 3-4 (75-24, 25-66, 24-77, 108-7, 42-72, 57-27, 40-76).

In the women's 9-ball pool competition, seasoned campaigner Suhana Dewi Sabtu made it to the last eight after downing Huynh Thi Ngoc Huyen of Vietnam 7-5.

The 42-year-old Suhana will face Aung Aye Mi on Sunday.

Malaysia’s Klaudia Djajalie failed to advance after going down fighting 5-7 to Thailand’s Siraphat Chitchomnart.

In the quarter-final of the men's billiards singles (500), Mohd Reza Hassan found three-time world champion Peter Gilchrist of Singapore too tough to handle, bowing out 81-502.
