Silver medal target met by takraw team

SINGAPORE: Silver, it is.

The national sepak takraw team met their target after bagging the silver medal.

The team beat hosts Singapore 2-1 in their final round-robin match at the Expo Hall 1 on Tuesday to finish runners-up behind Thailand.

Thailand had no problems retaining their gold medal after a 3-0 win over Indonesia.

Indonesia and Singapore picked up the bronze medal.

“We achieved our target ... and improved on the bronze we won in the Myanmar SEA Games two years ago,” said national team manager Mohd Zambri Abd Rahman.

“The players looked more motivated and focused in training ... I think that’s the reason we won the silver medal. I’m happy that the players accomplished the task set by the association.”
