Kim Swee thanks JDT for releasing two players to join #SEAGames training


KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 (Bernama) -- National Under-23 (U-23) coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee thanked Super League side Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) for releasing two players to attend the final phase of preparations for 2015 SEA Games in Singapore next month.

The duo -- Mohamad Amer Saidin and Gary Steve Robbat - reported for centralised training at the Wisma FAM ground in Kelana Jaya, here today, the third day of the U-23 team's training.

"Thanks to JDT for releasing Amer Saidin and Gary for our SEA Games preparations despite having to play in the AFC Cup competition," Kim Swee tweeted, today.

JDT cruised into the last 16 of the AFC Cup after with one match to spare (Balestier Khalsa FC, Singapore on May 12 at the Larkin Stadium in Johor Baharu) after collecting 12 points from five matches.

The final phase of the U-23 squad started on Sunday and will continue until May 26, before Kim Swee names the final list of 20 players to spearhead the country's challenge in the SEA Games.

During the training stint, the U-23 squad will play three friendly matches against Sabah on May 15 in Kota Kinabalu, and two other matches with countries in the region.
