Women's 50m Rifle Prone Team Bag Bronze Medal

YANGON, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- The women's shooting team only managed to win the bronze medal in the 50m rifle prone team event held at North Dagon Shooting Range, here Thursday.

The Malaysian trio of Nur Suryani Mohamed, Muslifah Zulkifli and Haslisa Hamed shot down 1,739 points.

Thailand won the gold medal via Thanyalak Chotphibunsin, Ratchadaporn Plensaengthong and Vitchuda Pichikanjanakul who collected 1,775 points.

Myanmar grabbed the silver medal with 1,767 points via Kaw Thu Thu, Thin Aye Aye and Saw Than Than.

Senior athlete Nur Suryani admitted to being a little pressured in the final today but was satisfied they still managed to win the bronze medal for the country.

"The SEA Games is my first international tournament after a 15 month break. I pushed too hard in the early rounds but luckily, I managed to correct the small mistakes in the final round.

"I was trying to do something beyond my means because this event is a gold medal prospect," she told reporters here Thursday.

In the 50m rifle prone individual event, Muslifah was placed 10th with 583 points, Nur Suryani was placed 11th with 582 points while Haslisa was placed 16th with 574 points.

Myanmar's Khaw Thu Thu won the gold medal with 595 points, while the silver and bronze went to Thanyalak Chotphibunsin (594 points) and Vitchuda Pichikanjanakul (591 points) of Thailand.
