Six Terengganu Cyclist To Spearhead Country's Medal Chase In Indonesia

KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- Six Terengganu cyclists will be among the 14-member SEA Games cycling team to spearhead the country's medal chase in Indonesia.

Terengganu cycling coach Syed Mohd Hussaini Syed Mazlan the six comprise five men and a woman cyclist, namely Mohd Shahrul Mat Amin, Mohd Hariss Salleh, Adiq Husainie Othman, Amir Mustafa Rosli, Mohd Zulhilmi Hafiz Ahmad Zamri (men) while Fatihah Mustapa is the lone woman cyclist.

"We hope they can produce the desired results and contribute towards the country's success," he told Bernama here.

Mohd Haris, Mohd Zulhilmi and Fatihah compete in the track events while Adiq Hussaini, Amir Mustapa and Mohd Shahrul are down to take part in the road race.

Syed Mohd who is also the assistant coach for the SEA Games cycling squad to Indonesia said Fatihah was currently undergoing training in Melbourne, Australia.

Syed Mohd said based on the performance and preparations, Terengganu riders would be able to compete against riders from other countries, especially those from host country Indonesia.

The 14-member cycling squad would leave for Indonesia on Nov 11. while Road race competitions would be held in Bandung from Nov 14 to 17 while Track events are held in Jakarta from Nov 19 to 22.

He said the riders would continue their training in Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur from Oct 20 to Nov 11.
