SEA GAMES: Sin Li Jane Secures Silver In SEA Games Debut


JAKARTA, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- National junior bowler, Sin Li Jane missed a gold medal in the women's individual event at the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia after trailing by just two pins to Singapore's Cherie Tan at the Jaya Ancol Bowling Centre here Tuesday.

The 2010 national champion was quite consistent in her game and collected 1,284 pins overall.

The bronze medal was won by another Singaporean, Jazreel Tan, who lost by just one pin.

Li Jane, 19, from Ipoh, Perak, said she was satisfied with her debut performance at the games and pledged to net at least a gold in the doubles, trios and women's team events.

"It was a good fight. I could have secured the gold but I missed a strike in the last frame," she said afterwards.

Meanwhile, national elite player, Zandra Aziela Ibrahim Hakimie and Jacqueline Sijore had to be contented with seventh and eighth placing when they amassed scores of 1,207 and 1,204 pins respectively.

Also not in form were Zatil Iman Abdul Ghani, Sharon Koh and Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana Abang Jamalidon when they were placed 20th, 21st and 26th out of 30 participants in the event.

The bowling championship continues with the men's and women's doubles Wednesday.
