SEA GAMES: Fortune Smiles On Muhammad Zaki

JAKARTA, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- A Myanmar archer's misfortune led Muhammad Zaki Mahazan to win the bronze medal in the SEA Games men's individual 50m compound event at the Senayan archery range here Wednesday.

In the shootout for the bronze, Myanmar's Ye Min Swee was on track for the bronze but had the misfortune of losing 10 points when one of his three arrows in the third stage of the five-stage shootout slipped and fell just two metres in front of him.

It proved very costly and allowed Muhammad Zaki to go on to win the bronze medal.

He collected 140 points overall in the end against his opponent's 132.

The gold was won by Indonesia's I Gusti Nyoman Puruhito who collected 143 point while Benjamin Yap of the Philippines took the silver after scoring 140 points.

In the semifinals, Benjamin had defeated Muhammad Zaki 144-140 while the Indonesian tamed Yee Min Swe 144-141.
