SEA Games: Cyclists Fail To Clinch Medals On Final Day Of BMX Races

JAKARTA, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- National cyclists rode home empty handed at the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia in the BMX Supercross one-day event at Ancol here Friday.

Riding on an earth surface, national women cyclist Masziyaton Mohd Radzi missed winning a bronze medal when she took the fourth place with a time of one minute 3.015 seconds, losing to the host country's rider, Suswanti.

The cyclist from Kedah who was a highway rider adapted well before being overtaken at the last minute and trailed the latter by 3.718 seconds.

The 23-year-old racer had earlier given the cycling contingent a silver medal in the opening event at the Mountain Bike Cross Country on Nov 13 in Gunung Pancar, Sentul.

Meanwhile, in the men's BMX event, Mohd Aim Mohamad Fauzi was placed fifth while national track cycling champion Mohd Rizal Tisin got a shock when he failed to qualify for the final.

The event which offers two gold medals on the last day of competition was dominated by Indonesia in both the men and women categories.
