SEA GAMES: Ang, Liew Clinch Malaysia 2nd Gold In Tenpin Bowling

JAKARTA, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- National bowlers Adrian Ang and Alex Liew proved their mettle when they set the Jaya Anchol Bowling Centre here blazing to clinch the second bowling gold medal at the 26th SEA Games Wednesday.

They followed in the footprints of national women's doubles pair, Jacqueline Sijore and Zandra Aziela Ibrahim Hakimi, who bagged the first bowling gold.

Ang and Liew, who won the gold medal at the Guangzhou Asian Games 2010, accumulated 2,555 pinfalls, 65 pins ahead of their nearest rivals, Biboy Rivera and Frederick Ong from the Philippines.

Another national pair, Muhd Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek and Zulmazran Zulkifli also faired well when they bagged the bronze with 2,454 pinfalls.

For Liew, he was motivated by the national women's doubles victory this morning.

"The secret of our success was being patient and concentrate on the game," he told reporters after the match.

Malaysia collected the bronze in men's doubles at the Thai SEA Games in 2007 through Aaron Kong and Zulmazran Zulkifli.
