KUALA LUMPUR - Institut Sukan Negara (ISN) akan ke Laos, tuan rumah Sukan SEA tahun ini, bagi meninjau kemudahan perubatan di hospital dan pusat perubatan negara itu termasuk sebagai persediaan menghadapi sebarang kemungkinan penularan wabak influenza A (H1N1) semasa kejohanan itu Disember ini.
Ketua Pengarah ISN, Datuk Dr. Ramlan Abd. Aziz berkata, institut itu sedar mengenai risiko berlakunya wabak selesema babi ketika temasya itu berlangsung, dan akan mengambil tindakan sewajarnya mengikut garis panduan yang dikeluarkan oleh Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia (WHO).
"ISN akan menghantar Unit Perubatan dan Sokongan Sains Sukan ke Laos dalam masa terdekat untuk mengenalpasti kemudahan perubatan yang disediakan tuan rumah semasa Sukan SEA," katanya kepada pemberita semalam.
Dr Ramlan yang juga Chef-de- Mission Malaysia ke Sukan SEA di Laos sebelum itu memberi taklimat kepada pengurus pasukan Malaysia ke temasya tersebut yang akan berlangsung pada 9 hingga 18 Disember ini. - BERNAMA
SEA Games: NSI Monitors H1N1 Pandemic In Laos
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- The National Sports Institute (NSI) will send a team to host country Laos to check the medical facilities that have been put in place to prevent the spread of Influenza A(H1N1) during the Sea Games from Dec 9 to 18.NSI Director Datuk Dr Ramlan Abd Aziz said that mindful of the possibility of a H1N1 outbreak during the games, the institute would act in accordance with guidelines from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The team from the Medical and Sports Science Support Unit would be sent there as soon as possible to check the medical and other facilities as well as the cleanliness at the various venues, he said.
Dr Ramlan, who is also the chef-de-mission of the Malaysian contingent to the Games, told reporters that after a briefing for the team managers.
The Malaysian athletes would also be given anti-viral shots as a precaution, he said.
