SINGAPORE: It's game over for Malaysia as they failed to get past the SEA Games group stage for the first time in eight years.
The national Under-23 side fell 1-0 to defending champion Thailand in their third Group B match at the Bishan Stadium.
Skipper Sarach Yoo Yen struck the winner in the 80th minute to send Malaysia packing from the competition.
Malaysia have three points after three matches and have two more matches to play against minnows Laos and Brunei.
But it won't be enough to close the gap on group leaders Thailand and Vietnam.
