SINGAPORE: Thailand’s Phusa-At Thaloengkiat and Sarawut Sriboonpeng proved too strong for Malaysia's Saiful Bahri Musmin-Mohamad Nuzul Azwan Temizi in the petanque men's doubles final at Padang.
The Malaysian pair never had a chance to respond and their playing time ended as the Thais carved out a 13-0 dominant win.
The Malaysians had beaten Thailand 11-10 on Wednesday. Altogether, they won six out of seven matches in the preliminary round to reach the semis as the top seeds. They only lost 7-13 to Laos.
In the semis, Malaysia overcame Vietnam 13-4 while the Thais beat Cambodia 13-7.
Malaysia have one silver, one gold and one bronze after four events so far.
Hafizuddin Mat Daud won the men's singles title on Monday for Malaysia's first-ever gold medal in petanque.
Nuzul got a bronze in the men's shooting on June 6.
