Shielding Malaysian Players At SEA Games Football Final

JAKARTA, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian football squad may use Barracuda armoured vehicles to get into and out of the Bung Karno Stadium for the final match of the 26th SEA Games tomorrow, team manager Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said today.

He said the safety of the players is of paramount importance.

Hamidin said he hoped that the Indonesian Football Association and the police would discuss the matter because about 100,000 supporters of the Indonesian team are sure to mill around the stadium area.

On the final match, between Malaysia and Indonesia, scheduled to kick off at 7 pm (Indonesian time) tomorrow, Hamidin said he was confident Malaysia would emerge the winner.

"We have the experience of the preliminary Group A match last Thursday. I notice that our players are resilient and I hope they rise to the occasion tomorrow.

"We will prove that Malaysia are the best in Southeast Asia," he said. Malaysia beat Indonesia 1-0 last Thursday to top Group A.

Hamidin said Indonesia would be under pressure to deliver when playing before a home crowd desirous of nothing less than victory.
