KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 (Bernama) -- The Sepaktakraw Association of Malaysia (PSM)'s dream of getting at least one gold medal at the Laos SEA Games at the end of the year may not be realised if the reuslts of the national test matches at the National Sports Complex at Keramat today are anything to go by.

Although emerging as champions through the Malaysia B team represented by Ahmad Sufi Mohd Hashim, Norshahruddin Mad Ghani and Syafiq Rahman, four other national teams failed to at least make it to the semi-finals.

This reality was admitted to by the national sepak takraw coach, Haris Abdul Rahman, who said match experience separated his charges from the other teams.

"In some games we led, but in the end we lost as the opponents had vast experience," he told reporters here, Sunday.

Haris said his boys were also short of actual competition atmosphere experience but still gave good performances in the test matches over two days that involved 32 teams.

In the final, Malaysia B defeated Seri Putra which was made up of two former national players Mohd Normanizam Ahmad and Mohd Futra Abdul Ghani together with Ariff Ramli in three sets 21-19, 18-21 and 15-10.

The national squad's training camp will be closed for a while beginning tomorrow till April 12 to enable the players to participate in the Khir Johari Gold Cup that begins April 7.
