KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- Harimau Muda went down 1-2 to Honved Budapest of Hungary in a friendly match in Budapest last night.

Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor scored for the Malaysian boys in the 60th min while Honved Budapest which also fielded their Under 19 side scored a goal in each half.

"Our players have proven that the difference in physical size is not a big obstacle in football," Harimau Muda coach Ong Kim Swee said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the robust play by the Hungarians could not prevent the National Under 19 players from creating several goalscoring chances.

"It was a challenging encounter. The experience will come in useful in future matches," Ong said.

Spectators include the Malaysian ambassador in Hungary Datuk Kamilan Maksom and Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) general secretary Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad.

The match was only the second for Harimau Muda in Hungary after beating Slovan Levice 4-0 on Aug 31.

The 26-member Harimau Muda squad is on an 18-day training stint based in Vion, Slovakia.

The Malaysian boys will play Spartak Trnava of Slovakia tomorrow.
