25th SEA Games to be broadcast live in six countries

The 25 th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), to be held from Dec. 9-18 this year in Laos, will be broadcast live through 14 television channels in six ASEAN countries, local media reported.

The agreement was reached among officials from Brunei, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the host Laos, who gathered in Vientiane last week to discuss satellite broadcasting fees for the games.

Television networks having agreed in principle to broadcast the SEA Games live include Brunei Radio and Television, Lao National Radio, Lao National Television, Lao Star Channel, Forever Group (FRTB4 Myanmar), Media Corp TV Singapore, National Broadcasting Service of Thailand (NBT), TPBS, Channel 7, Channel 5, VTC Digital-Vietnam, VTV, TOT, and CAT Telecom.

Laos will use about 16 mobile broadcasting vans to cover all sports venues and will employ more than 144 people to work in production, the Laos news agency (KPL) said.

The budget for the management of TV broadcasting is about 34 billion kip (4 million USD), added the news agency.
