Six Asean Leaders Will Attend SEA Games Opening Ceremony

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- Six Asean heads of state and 6,000 athletes from 11 countries will attend the opening ceremony of the 26th SEA Games at the Jakabaring Stadium in Palembang, on Nov 11.

Antara news agency quoted the chairman of South Sumatera's Indonesian Sea Games Organising Committee (Inasoc) Muddai Madang as saying that among the leaders who will be present at the ceremony are from Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore.

"Leaders from those three countries will stay for a few days in Palembang while the others will return home after the ceremony," he said.

The Games' opening and closing ceremonies will both take place in Palembang but competitions in part of the sports branches would be held in Jakarta.

Meanwhile Republika online news portal quoted Muddai as saying that all the games venues in Palembang are now ready for use by tomorrow.

Earlier this week he said except the shooting range and the rock climbing wall, the others are ready and tested.

"Tomorrow, we will have the test event at that two venues to inspect its readiness," he said.
