MCBA Sets Silver Medal Target In Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian contract bridge team making their maiden appearance in the SEA Games after the sport was included by host Indonesia for the first time, have targeted a silver medal.

Malaysian Contract Bridge Association (MCBA) Honorary secretary David Law Chee Tho said the silver medal target was set, based on the current performance of the players.

"Malaysia is currently ranked second in South East Asia behind Singapore, so the silver medal target is not impossible," he told Bernama when contacted here today.

He said as preparations for the SEA Games, the players were currently undergoing training at Kelab Taman Perdana and the Royal Selangor Club.

"Malaysia will send four players to Indonesia and they will compete in the men's team and pair events," he said.

The SEA Games in Indonesia will feature 43 sports, including contract bridge, paragliding, roller skating, shorinji kempo, vovinam and wall climbing.

Malaysia will compete in all the sports, except wrestling, traditional boat race, soft tennis and vovinam
